What Will Asia Take Up?
Published:2013-8-17   Author:admin
After 10 years, Asia is predicted to take up half of the global luxury market

Internationally, luxury is defined as "a consumer goods beyond people's survival and development needs characteristics of unique, rare and curiosity". Also, it is known as the non-necessities. Luxury consumption is a high-end consumer behavior. Its significance lies on satisfying the psychological demands of consumers instead of meeting the daily demands. With the development of global economy, the luxury market is also growing. The scope of luxury extends from the general material concept to the concept of non material.

The rapid development of luxury market in China attracts the attention of the whole world. The 2013 China Tax Free Report issued by the Luxury Research Center in the University of International Business and Economics and the Wealth Quality Research Institute, it shows that due to the effect of multiple factors such as service, price and safety, Chinese travelers become the largest consumer group in the field of global retail tourism. In 2012, the consumption abroad is up to $1020 hundred million. The historical data demonstrate that the number of outbound Chinese rises year by year. In 2010, it is the first time to exceed 50000 thousand. Since 2010, it has maintained an annual rate of about 20% increase. In 2012, the number of outbound Chinese reach 83000 thousand persons. At the same time, the overseas consumption of Chinese tourists has doubled from $0.54 billion in 2010 to $1.02 billion in 2012. The increasing speed is rare. In addition, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) issued in Shanghai in 13th, Asia has occupied 1/3 share of the global luxury market. The above data demonstrate that the high speed of luxury industry development, the great number of audience as well as the huge potential of this market.

However, compared to the huge luxury market, its corresponding after sale service does not match. It is understood that the maintenance exists only in Beijing, Shanghai and other first-tier cities. The rest of products need to be repaired abroad. As a result, it will take for a long time, which makes consumers helpless. Though the main factor is that after sale service can not meet the luxury market development, another key factor lies in lack of understanding of luxury. The cognition of luxury is still very low in China. The most of the purchase belongs to the impulsive consumption. The consumers do not take the subsequent expenditure into account. Therefore, when faced with high repair cost and long time of repair time, Chinese consumers always feel "injured". This reflects that the development of the luxury industry in China is not mature, but not mature is corresponding to a vast development space, which means that the industry is still scarce of talents.

In order to ensure the quality of maintenance, the threshold of luxury after sale service is often higher -- such as professionals, specialized tools and special parts etc.. Professionals need knowledge of luxury goods, however, it is a long-term and systematic process. In order to adapt to this situation, the demand for professionals is increasing continuously, and the corresponding luxury management also gradually become a popular major. Specialized tools and special parts are also being introduced into China. With a growing number of luxury brands in China, the setup of franchised stores is faster than that of repair points which are also gradually increasing.

According to Group M • 2013 Hurun Wealth Report jointly issued by Hurun Research Institute and Group M a few days ago, it shows that there are 1050 thousand multimillionaires and 64.5 thousand billionaires, which increase 3% and 2% separately in comparison with last year. That is to say, there is one multimillionaire among 1300 persons and there is one billionaire among 20000 persons. As we all know, one of the essence of the luxury is the extremely high price. As a result, the abundant fund is the basic requirement for the purchase of luxury goods. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) says that in the next ten years the Asian market revenue will account for 50% to 60% of the revenue of the global luxury market. From the above data, it can also be calculated that it is only a matter of time for the Asia to prop up the global luxury market.
