Overview of Major

With rapid development of China’s economy, its market share in luxury consumption is also growing larger and larger. According to the survey jointly conducted by AC Nielsen and Tax Free World Association, the avarage shopping expenses of Chinese tourists adds up to 987 dollars, as the highest in the world, and luxury consumptions such as fashion, cosmetics, perfumes,etc. have ranked at the head of their shopping lists. At present, China has 8% market share among the world market of luxury consumptions. The industry estimates that the number will surge to 15% in the next 5 years, and thus China will become the third largest nation of luxury consumption.

The ever-growing luxury consumption has sparked concern of people for the luxury industry. Education on luxury goods also naturally becomes an emerging subject in education field. With many world top brands flocking to land in China as well as the great attraction China possesses, various companies are lapping up the talents with great knowledge of China’s luxury market.

Therefore, the objectives of this major setting are mainly as follows:

- to enable students to master the overall framework of marketing and management

- to enable them to understand China’s market and the relevant laws

- to enable them to cultivate fashion sensitivity and aesthetic ability

- to enable them to know the classification of luxury industry and get familiar with various famous brands

- to enable them to learn from case study and to understand the characteristics of luxury industry

Career Prospect

It is commonly accepted that luxury industry are classified into the following categoriesReady-to-wear and accessories, perfume and cosmetics, watches and jewelry, wine and spirits, automobiles and technology, hotels and real estate.

Career prospects in certain category of luxury industry above include: sales, retailers,purchasing,marketing, import and export, consultants and other functional positions, such as business and strategy development, etc.

Diploma

Upon graduation, the institute will issue:
 
1)    After finishing the first three years' study of the undergraduate course students can acquire a graduation certificate issued by the French institute;
 
2)     Associate Degree from the Adult Education by some college will be issued to those who apply for the Adult Education Program and sit for the exam and finish the program with success. Meanwhile, students will be qualified to continue and finish the undergraduate program. The associate program is for three years and students don’t need to pay for extra tuition fees.

3)     Diploma from MOD’ART in Paris which is exactly the same as that in the school in Paris (it has the legitimate qualification of art school in France and is recognized by the French government)
