A Lecture on “Moral Education” Was Held in Shanghai University—Paris International Institute of Fashion and Arts Professor Shensheng Hu, a sociologist was invited to give a lecture on “moral education” for more than 200 teachers and students in Shanghai University—Paris International Institute of Fashion and Arts. The lecture was held in the conference hall in Jing’an Campus. The whole staff of Shanghai University—Paris International Institute of Fashion and Arts attended this lecture, including the chief dean of this campus and all the teachers in students’ affair department. Professor Hu began his lecture by eliciting the question: why should university students receive moral education. He quoted a lot of famous sayings and gave out a great number of examples. He expanded on the profound connotation and realistic significance of moral education in many aspects such as inheriting and developing traditional Chinese thinking, the positive attitude of intellects in ancient China and competition in modern society. He also pointed out that the students should be morally strict to themselves to establish correct concepts of right and obligation. Professor Hu presented his opinion with vivid words. At the end of the lecture, Mr. Shen, the dean of Shanghai University—Paris International Institute of Fashion and Arts gave a speech which was the climax of the lecture. The lecture lasted until around five o’clock, but the students still did not want to leave, many of whom stayed and had a further communication and discussion with Professor Hu after the lecture. |
